OEM or Original Equipment Manufacturer is the motor industry term for car manufacturers.
The OEM is the company that controls the design and production processes, and usually the one that has its name on the car. But the OEM is unlikely to manufacture every part of the car, and may not make any of it - some cars are manufactured for the OEM by a specialist production company.
