A rolling chassis is a complete car chassis fitted with steering, suspension, brakes, wheels and tyres, and usually fitted with engine, gearbox and other ancillaries - but with no body.

The term rolling chassis was commonly used when separate chassis were the norm, but now that most cars use monocoque construction it is less relevant. However it is still widely used in reference to large commercial vehicles, which still use separate chassis.
