Hardtop

110409-MGF-461

There are two different ways this term is used. A hardtop for a convertible or roadster replaces the folding roof with a removable roof, often of glassfibre but sometimes made of steel or aluminium alloy (above).

When applied to a whole vehicle rather than a component, a hardtop means a notchback coupé with a fixed roof. This is a term more commonly used in the US.
