Power to weight ratio

Power to weight ratio is a measure of a vehicle's performance potential. Expressed in bhp/ton (and other power/weight units) it is the engine power divided by the overall weight of the vehicle.

Power to weight ratio has a major impact on accleration. The greater the power to weight ratio, the faster the vehicle accelerates - though other factors such as gearing, traction and aerodynamic drag also have an influence.
